In Urdu, ‘ghulam sakina’ means serving beauty.

Designer Liaqat Rasul’s family are from Pakistan; he was brought up in North Wales, studied fashion in Derby and has worked with expert tailors in London
and India.  Embracing all aspects of his cultural heritage, he has created a
unique brand – Ghulam Sakina.

Liaqat established the company in 1999, having discovered a wealth of resources, inspiration and skills whilst working in India.  Now based in both London and New Delhi, the label marries innovation and craft from both cultures.

Liaqat plays with fabrics and develops new techniques to construct garments that are all about touch, longevity and intelligent colour - from super-saturated to subdued.

He imagines, researches and styles the clothes in London, and supervises production in Delhi. Ghulam Sakina garments are created by a highly skilled team of traditional Indian craftsmen who specialize in the disciplines of print, embroidery, fabric dying, quilting and hand-sewn finishes. As a result, Ghulam Sakina
designs feature idiosyncratic combinations of colour, pattern and texture.

Ghulam Sakina is stocked in over 40 stores worldwide such as Selfridges
in London, Bay Crews in Tokyo and Villa Moda in Kuwait.
